Prom: The Perfect Dress

Hey girls! With prom rapidly approaching, some of us still haven't had the time to find the perfect dress. This spring, be on the look out for some of these new trends:

Orange
This bold color is in this year, however, if you decide on a bright color, go with a simpler design.

Lace
This trend has always been a springy staple, so amp up your look with some statement jewelry, or a pop of color!

Ruffles
Go for low-key on this style, minimal ruffles are elegant while too many are tacky. Just remember less is more.

Cut-out Backs
This look is great for a simple dress. Add a classic updo to show it off!

High-Low Hemline
This cute look is perfect for prom, and it's flowy style will leave you extremely comfortable!

HAILEY LOGAN Halter Layered Gown

Glitter
This style has always been in, and it makes you stand out!

We hope this helps! Look for more prom posts in the near future. Don't forget to leave your comments or questions below!

Spring Break Checklist!

Spring Break is a great way to welcome the warm weather that is approaching! Whether you're going on vacation or hanging with friends, there are some must-have items that every fashionista should get!

1. Sunscreen
Sunscreen is a vital accessory you should have whether you're laying out on the beach or taking a short shopping trip. So before you head out, slap some on your face and other exposed skin to protect yourself against any harmful rays. If you don't want to sacrifice your tan, use a low spf, but try to use at least a 15!

2. Sunglasses/ Hats
Although protecting your skin is important, protecting your eyes is vital too. So shield them with some stylish shades (the new trend is cat-eye) or a big sunhat. They will make you stylish and safe wherever you go!

3. A Cute Bikini
A great way to pass the time this break is to go to the beach or the pool to soak up some sun and hang with friends. To look cute while doing it, you'll need a cute bikini! Whether a strapless, halter, bandeau, or spaghetti srap, you'll soak up some rays in style!

4. Sandals
The warmer weather that accompanies spring calls for us to ditch the boots and pull out the sandals! Heels, rainbows, flip flops, or strappy sandals, these shoes are a must to beat the spring break heat!

5. Tinted Moisturizer
In the winter, it's alot easier to put on a foundation and powder to accentuate our beauty and hide our flaws. But when the weather heats up, it's easy to sweat all of that stuff off! So this break, skip all that product and put on some tinted moisturizer! It hides any imperfections you have while moisturizing and protecting from the sun (most have spf!). Add a little concealer, blush, and mascara, and you have a natural, beautiful spring look! This is a simple and smart way to do your makeup during these hot months.

6. Cool Drink
Beat the heat with a cool refreshment. A soda, slushie, smoothy, or water can definantly make the break alittle better!

We hope everyone has a great spring break! Share any other items you have on your own checklist!

Hey girls! I was super excited to recieve this special edition Teen Vogue Birchbox this month. It came with some of my favorite beauty products, plus a $10 ModCloth coupon!

1. Essie Luxe Effects Nail Polish in Set in Stone- this glittery nail polish can be used as a top coat for shimmer, or used by itself, for a bold, sparkly look. Essie is one of my favorite nail polish brands, and I love glitter, so of course I am in love with this product. Full Size $8

2. Annick Goutal Petite Cherie- this fruity, musky scent is the perfect fragrance for spring! While I have other favorite perfumes, it was nice to receive this casual, chic fragrance to mix things up.
Full Size $85

3. Tarte LipSurgence Lip Tint in Joy- this product is by far my favorite thing that I received in my Birchbox. It came full size, and while it looks orange, it goes on a pinky red. I have always adored the brand Tarte and I've been meaning to purchase one of these lip products. But now I don't have to! Thank you Birchbox! Full Size $24

4. Peter Thomas Roth Max Anti-Shine Mattifying Gel- This high-end product leaves your face matte and shine-free for quite a long time! It absorbs oil and sweat ensuring a great result. I've been searching for a product like this that actually works, and now I found a great one. Full Size $35

5. Twistband Hair Tie in Black- I previously received one of these in gray from Birchbox and I love it. So getting another in a more practical color was awesome. I highly recommend these to girls who have easily creased hair! Pack of 12 $18

Hair Myths!

Lately, many myths about hair care have been spreading. Sadly, even some hairstylists will circulate some of this false information. Which ones should we believe? And which should we ignore?

Myth 1: Frequent trims make your hair grow faster

Cutting the ends of your hair doesn't affect the follicles in your scalp, which determine how fast and how much your hair grows. No matter how much you cut your hair, it will only grow about a quarter inch per month. However, regular trims will get rid of split ends, and make your hair look healthier. This is one rumor that hairstylists spread often.

Myth 2: Cold water makes your hair shinier

People SAY the icy water will make the cuticle of your hair close so it's flat (and light-reflective), not ruffled (and dull-looking). Your hair, however, contains no living cells - it doesn't react to cold (or hot) water. This rumor lets people to suffer through icy cold showers for nothing.

Myth 3: If you always use the same shampoo, your hair will eventually become immune to it

Your hair cannot become immune to a shampoo: it's dead. Switching shampoos may add variety, but it does not change that much. Feel free to use the same shampoo for the rest of your life!

Myth 4: If you pluck a gray hair, multipe will sprout back in it's place

This one has been around for a while. While this isn't true, it's still a bad habit. It can damage your roots or cause an infection.

Myth 5: With the right products, you can mend split ends

This one has fooled me time and time again. With so many products out called "split-end mender" it's hard not to fall for something that looks so official. Once the hair is split, it's split. While you can't mend these pesky strands, you can get them trimmed to prevent further breakage.

Myth 6: For healthier hair, brush it more

You've probably heard that brushing will distribute the natural oils from your scalp to add shine to your hair. Or that it will stimulate blood flow to your scalp and boost hair growth. These are not true. Brushing your hair is actually bad for it. It just leads to cuticle damage and breakage, and leaves your hair frizzy!

Myth 7: If you shampoo less often, your scalp will produce less oil

No matter how often you shampoo, your scalp produces the same amount of oil. The glands in your scalp are not affected based on your shampoo frequency, they are based on your hormones and genetics. So feel free to shampoo as much as you like!

Myth 8: Double wash your hair

Shampoo bottles often direct you to “lather, rinse, and repeat,” but that second shampoo isn’t always necessary. If you’re washing your hair every day, or even every other day, you can probably skip it. But if you’re shampooing less frequently, a double wash may be more effective at getting rid of the dirt and oil that has accumulated on your scalp and hair.

We hope this has cleared up any misconceptions, we wouldn't want anyone out there to be suffering through an icy shower, or wasting time endlessly brushing their hair. Let us know if you have any other beauty myths!

Her clutch, jewelry, makeup, and hair finish off her look perfectly!

She pulls off the "Old Hollywood" look perfectly! The off-the-shoulder top and perfectly flowing bottom are classicly chic and look beautiful on her, and the color is perfect with her skin tone. Her hair and jewelry finish off this classic look.

When does this woman NOT look amazing? This classic black formal dress is played up with an edgy neckline and high slit that is perfect on Angie. Her simple hair, sparkly earrings and red lips help her pull off this look flawlessly!
